Stoicism for a Better Life – Weekly exercise (June 5, 2019)

Hello there,

This week for guidance, Marcus Aurelius reminds us about the discipline of action in Meditations IV 2:

“Let no act be done without a purpose, nor otherwise than according to the perfect principles of art.”

We are supposed to take the time to decide on the most appropriate course of action, so as to ensure it is the best decision we can make with the current information and capacities we have. But once the decision is made to do/pursue/say something, we owe it to ourselves, our fellow cosmopolitans and the universe to give it our best. So this week, focus on what you are doing in your “Here & Now” (whether it’s reading, writing, driving, meal prep, gym, talking, working, … anything) and give it your all, as if it was the very last thing you would do…the very last effort and impact you would leave before departing from this earth.

Did this change the way you approached a task? Share it with the rest of us to help inspire others.

Much love and have a great week.
