Stoicism for a Better Life – Weekly exercise (March 13, 2019)
Hello there,
This week for our guidance, let us look once more at Seneca from LIII 9:
“Philosophy wields her own authority; she appoints her own time and does not allow it to be appointed for her. She is not a thing to be followed at odd times, but a subject for daily practice; she is mistress, and she commands our attendance.”
As Stoic practitioners (Prokoptôns) our definition of philosophy is a guide to live a good life. And so it should be applied to life, every minute of every day. So this week, start thinking of our philosophy, not as a diversion from real life, but as your guidance for life itself.
I would very much enjoy to hear examples of where you applied virtue that you would not have considered otherwise, from a more consistent approach. These can be applied to future PEotW.
Happy journeys to all.
